i have a question for anyone who might know anything about Nordic languages
im writing a back story for a character and i was looking for a norse word for "outsider" when i came across the word
"Skræling"
no what i want to ask is , is that word considered offensive?
the wikipedia page states that "is the name the Norse Greenlanders used for the indigenous peoples they encountered in North America and Greenland"
and i worry that it could be taken in the same way that some people would use the term "red skins" as an insult
is this word offensive ? and if so can you suggest a suitable alternative?
